SOA Grant Funding to Advance 30x30 Marine Protection
Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA)
About This Opportunity
The Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA) is inviting applications for its Grant Funding to Advance 30x30, supporting community-led initiatives that protect marine and coastal ecosystems while strengthening sustainable agrifood systems through the blue economy.
The grant funds projects that establish or strengthen Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs), promote sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, restore coastal ecosystems, and empower local communities to manage marine resources sustainably.
Healthy oceans are essential to resilient blue food systems, providing nutritious food, sustaining fisheries and aquaculture, supporting livelihoods, and improving climate resilience for coastal communities. The programme encourages youth, women, Indigenous Peoples, small-scale fishers, and community-based organizations to develop innovative solutions that conserve marine biodiversity while enhancing food security and sustainable economic opportunities.
Organizations can apply for grants of up to USD 15,000, while individuals not affiliated with an organization may apply for up to USD 5,000. Projects should demonstrate measurable progress within six months and be completed within eighteen months.
This funding opportunity is highly relevant for youth-led initiatives working in agrifood systems, blue food systems, sustainable aquaculture, small-scale fisheries, marine conservation, climate resilience, and community-based natural resource management.
