Africa Agriculture and Trade Investment Fund (AATIF) – Agricultural Investment Financing
Africa Agriculture and Trade Investment Fund (AATIF
About This Opportunity
The Africa Agriculture and Trade Investment Fund (AATIF) provides market-based investment financing to established agricultural businesses, agribusinesses and financial institutions operating in Africa.
AATIF is a blended-finance, private-debt fund focused on strengthening African agricultural value chains, improving food security and supporting income and employment. It can finance businesses and financial institutions involved in agriculture and related value-chain activities.
Eligible investment opportunities may include:
- Agricultural input providers
- Commercial farms
- Agricultural processing companies
- Cooperatives
- Agribusinesses and agricultural traders
- Large agribusinesses acting as off-takers or service providers to smallholders
- Commercial banks and other financial institutions financing agriculture
AATIF's current investment criteria generally require an investee to be operational rather than still at the planning stage, have an experienced management team and demonstrate financial viability. Its current criteria indicate a minimum financing size of USD 3.5 million in qualifying cases, while the standard target is above USD 5 million.
AATIF provides market-based financing rather than grants or subsidies. Its financing can include debt and other investment instruments, while technical assistance may be available separately to qualifying beneficiaries.
There is no fixed application deadline; investment opportunities can be submitted through AATIF's online funding application for initial review.
